Reassured and confident
Seeking to understand the cause of, and prospective remedies for, the growing continual pain in my knee now, after ACL reconstructive surgery 25 years ago, I was referred to Mr Simon Thompson.
I found him very impressive, personable, attentive as I explained my history, and then expert and decisive in his examination of my knee and the specification for specialist imaging of its interior. He empathised with my wish, having had four previous knee interventions, only to contemplate knee replacement as a last resort. Following receipt and analysis of the imaging, he demonstrated to me the issue areas present in my knee but noted that its general condition was better than expected. Accordingly, he concluded that knee replacement was not necessary at this time and, instead, he prescribed specific physiotherapy and specialist anti-inflammatories for pain management. At the end of each session, he rapidly dictated precise reports to update my GP and put his recommendations into effect. I was confident in his diagnosis and reassured about the prospects for a better quality of life subsequently.
