Returned to full sporting activity
From the beginning of my initial consultation, I knew I was in good hands. The accident and emergency department at the hospital had given me a knee brace to wear for which turned out to be a torn ACL. This was confidently dismissed as ineffective and allowed me some respite from the brace, pending treatment. The subsequent diagnosis and prognosis was immediate and assertive. I was impressed with the ACL publication I was offered and even more impressed that Simon was the author. The initial consultation had given me total confidence and put my mind at rest in terms of the options I had for treatment and the advice I would follow.
I was referred to a very good physiotherapist for both pre and post-surgery work and there was also a referral to a dermatologist which demonstrated that everything had been considered with a great deal of thought and care.
On surgery day Simon took the time to visit my partner and I both before and after the procedure to check in that everything was OK and I was ready. This was very reassuring, particularly when you’re anxious about having quite a significant operation.
Only a couple of weeks after the ACL reconstruction I wanted to take a long-haul flight and consulted with Simon about this. The advice I was met with was robust, clear and ultimately correct and easily dissuaded me from taking any long-haul flights until it was appropriate. Simon did this in a way that did not cause any disappointment or regret.
I was of course fast asleep during the operation nor can I see inside my knee to see exactly what Simon performed but 20 months after the operation I have returned to full football activity without any issues so far. I am grateful to Simon for performing the procedure but it was the ‘before’ and ‘after’ which was outstanding, in particular, because I think I underestimated the significance of this procedure and was supported by Simon literally along every step of the way. Simon has a fantastic personality and commands superb knowledge and experience in this field and so I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him to a teammate, friend or family member.
